I am one of those people who doesn’t drink a lot of water apart from my pregnancy with the twins I drank water like it was running out lol but once they were born I was back to drinking one or two glasses of water a day.
For a long time magazines, newspapers, gym instructors etc have always told us to drink 8 glasses of water or more to help clean our bodies or to help lose weight and I always see people with massive bottles of water churging them down and I always wonder how they are able to drink all that water when I sometimes struggle to finish a full cup unless I am having dinner or thirsty. I always felt envious that I could not do that or that I was missing out on something and so I always tried to infuse my water with fruits or something so I could drink more but I would find someone saying putting fruits is not good and just stick to plain water at what point I would give up.
Recently I was reading a Cosmopolitan magazine and there was a section talking about how we do not need to drink 8 glasses of water. It spoke about how your liver does the job for you and all that water is unnecessary and when you actually think about it its true because your liver is there to rid of your body of all toxins and your body will also tell you when your thirsty so you can have a drink.
According to The New York times post written by Aaron E. Carroll we also get water from fruits, vegetable, tea as well as coffee, yes coffee although water is obviously better. He also said if you are are relatively a healthy person drinking excessive water will not help you health wise.
So we can relax because there is no formal recommendation of how much water humans need to drink. The amount of water you drink will depend on where you live, what you eat, what you are doing and what your health is like. So listen to your body and drink water when you need to.
Do you struggle to drink water? whats your alternative to water? let me know in the comment section below.
